This is a chance for you to meet us, ask questions and to be inspired. We are happy to visit you at your school and talk through your ideas and desires. It will give us a chance to visit and discuss the proposed site. Free

Stage 2 - £600

Illustrated talk for children to show our work and travels to see earth buildings around the world. Illustrated evening talk for parents. Draw up sketches and ideas and to produce scale plans of the shelter Approach planning if needed Discuss the schedule and costing including funding options with the head teacher. Talk to teachers about how the project can be woven into different subject areas.

Stage 3

School to apply for funding. We have a list of funding bodies with other projects. Finalise the programme:- schedule and costs including funding in place with the head teacher.

AbeySmallcombe organise off site construction of shelter, organise supply and delivery of materials Liase with planners, engineers and suppliers and make sure site is safe in preparation for building

Create Building

A series of fun outdoor hands on workshops take place during the build - usually in the Summer Term. We include every child in the school - an opportunity to get muddy and creative. Each child will make cob bricks and build part of a wall or a seat.

These workshops are carefully supervised

Once the building is completed we run a one day bread oven workshop. This is usually with year 5 or 6, using the mud bricks, which all the children have made.

Every school is different and we enjoy adapting the building to what you really need.
